Part 1:

We arrived in illulisat 1300, it was a pretty magnificent ride in. Just what I would have imagined. I keep thinking of Danielle and her fear of iceburgs as we plow our way through the hundreds to reach the town.

As we enter I get news the was an earth quake and tsunami that destroyed a settlement up north not to far from here. Four people are dead. I am a little worried but it's too late now, I'm here, and im on the seas. I will take my other boat trips if they aren't cancelled.

I did end up going on a midnight Sun tour that evening after a bit of drama, it was so peaceful! Drifting through the burgs at midnight in calm seas sipping on a hot cup of coffee. I was expecting more of an array of colours but as the sun didn't actually go beyond the horizon we just had as photographers call it, the beautiful 'blue hour’. We head back to our accommodation at midnight and it's the most surreal feeling as it still feels like midday! There's still people walking around, we pass a couple out pushing a pram...at 1am!

Wide awake but need to get some rest as I'll be back up at 5am to take the eqi glacier tour!!! Super excited.
