Kangerlussuaq, there is nothing here! We landed in the middle of a large crater, surrounded by dirt, mud and water. It's apparently the largest fjord in Greenland stretching some 190 km to the sea. I am told that this used to be a glacier all the way to the sea. It is strange to think i am standing on land that used to be the bottom of a glacier.

The locals are lovely but other than that there's nothing I enjoy about this place. It's empty, full of mosquitos and the nature is dry and ugly.

I did want to take a trip to Russell's glacier but it's a 5 hr trip and it's $130. So i ended up wandering around town, getting a local Greenlandic coffee* and enjoying a chat with the 65 year old bar attendent. And then heading back to my accommodation to cook my musquat* pizza and try and understand a show in Danish.

*Muskox-the local wild animal cross between beef and lamb.

*Greenlandic coffee- whiskey to symbolize the rough weather of Greenland, Kalua for the sweetness of Greenland. Heated so that the Kalua and whiskey blend together. Coffee to offer the darkness of Greenland.

Topped with whipped cream to symbolize the icebergs.

Finally, Grand Marnier aflame and pour together to display northern lights.
