Cold and tired I fumble back to my hostel room. I boil myself a cup of goulash soup and bump the heater on high.

My fingers are half numb and half painful from the hours and hours they were subdued to the ice cold wind. I sat outside for much of the 12 the boat ride to the eqi glacier as I was not going to miss a single thing (aside from my small nap earlier).

Add described earlier we made our way through 5 hours of changing scenery, out of the icebergs from the illulisat fjord and back in to the icebergs coming from the eqi glacier. You can hear the chomping of crushing ice as we push our way into just one km in front of glacier.

I know if a huge piece decided to crack off we would be in a lot of trouble.

The boat stops and the engine is turned of so we can enjoy the many sounds of this UNESCO World heritage sight.

We are the only ones out here, just our little boat. 5 hrs boat ride from any town. You may feel important until you find yourself in this moment.

You can hear flocks of birds overhead, there's a constant crackling sound like the popping of bubble wrap as the small ice in the water moves and rubs against each other. Every now and then you can hear an intense thundering crack as the glacier calves into the ocean. It's quite an intense sound. It's sheer might and unpredictably makes your heart races for a moment each time.

You can tell when there has been movement as there is a slow roll to the ice sheet over ocean. It's almost like the movement of the big round parachutes we used to have at camp when we were younger.

Lunch is done, some fresh salted raw fish and prawns. Good to try but I wouldn't try it again.

Now the homeward journey begins. I have my eyes peeled the whole trip for seals and whales… nothing!

Some disappointment but it sure was an amazing day.

I can fall asleep listening to the call of the Huskies all howling outside my window.
